Time to update that front license plate.

I had that plate for years, my grandpa gave it to me when I was like 6 or 7; I need to fix the crack in it but other than that it's going to stay there until the end of time.

My dad had Petes, Kens, and Freightshakers. I feel dirty for not having a good CB in either truck. He even let me drive fully loaded from a dead stop. I was scared shitless even though I was squarely in my own lane. When I parked, I nailed it. Bobtail was easy peasy. May have a rig of my own some day to deal with the race car crap. They get the same mpg as a diesel pickup truck but are severely undertasked with the trailer.

Trucking blood ran literally all the way through my family, father's grandpa (the one who gave me the plate) has driven ever since he was 18, he's "retired" now but still hauls Ag products all around West Central Iowa at almost 80 years old, and there's almost 3 generations of trucking on my mother's side, her dad owned his own company and ran almost all of the Midwest before he passed away from cancer, and her uncles on both sides ran trucking companies too.
I wanted to be a trucker for as long as I can remember; but now with all the regulations, bullshit laws, and all the other crap, I've damn near given up on that dream.

And I've got a CB in my truck, I just don't have it hooked up yet. I think it's a necessity for any truck really. And on the buying a road tractor to pull a racecar trailer, you can pick up bobtails for literally half or quarter of a decent diesel truck.

You're right about the government making it harder and harder on truckers. I deal with minimal hassles since I run local and just a regular trailer. My neighbor ran over OTR for a long time and had quite a few stories of being hassled by DOT and the like. I do love driving the trucks.

Almost every trucker I've talked to where I work has said to stay out of it; I've considered some local driving like running dump trucks or hauling equipment.

How much longer until autonomous trucks completely change the whole industry?

I've seen a whole lot of companies actually drop out of autonomous truck experimenting; apparently there's been tons of issues brought to light that almost completely shut down the idea of autonomous trucks.
Tesla I think is still grinding at it, Freightliner has something they've been working on too.

I know Kinze Manufacturing in Iowa has developed and implemented their own autonomous operating programs for tractors, which I think they're in the final stages of getting everything ironed out.

Broke an exhaust hanger today. Started hearing a loud ass clanking running down the road so I pulled over and crawled around the truck until I found it.
