Nice bike! How did you get those bags on there? Did you custom make some mounts? i've never seen those big hard bags on dynas, only those little factory ones.

That's exactly why I did it. You really only ever see DXT bags or those smaller dyna bags; I wanted full sized FLH bags. You can buy cheap conversion brackets on ebay but believe me when I say you're better of building them yourself.

I make a trip up to northern Idaho the first week in July every year for a drag racing event up there; they recognize me the moment I roll in lol and they only see me once a year! Pretty proud of that.

Nice! My old man has a FLHT standard and I always loved those bags because you can fit a case of beer with ice in there perfectly. I was originally looking for a RoadKing with hard bags when I found my Dyna at a price I couldn't pass up.

Got word my Gabriel Ultra Shocks will be in by Friday at the latest. At first glance it all seems pretty simple; pull the bolts, remove old, install new, bam done!

But, if ya'll got any tips or suggestions, I'm all ears! er, eyes, er whatever.

I've never changed shocks before o_O

Start "panther pissing" (rust penetrant ie: WD-40) the old shock bolts and hardware now. They can be a real PITA to break loose if you are in a rusty area.

Thanks for the suggestions fells. While we're on the topic of shocks; does anyone have any experience with Gabriel Ultras? A good friend of mine works at AutoZone and says they're the best shocks they sell, but he was telling me to go with Bilsteins. That said, these Gabriel Ultras are being received via labor barter through a friend; I detail his rig, he buys me some shocks.

I did a bunch of research on them and they seem to be a good every man's offroad shock? I mean, I won't be doing comp's in them (I don't comp anyway), but they should be a rock solid overland shock? The buddy that bought em for me says it's what he runs in his truck.

Keep in mind, I'm not investing this thing into some kind of SEMA truck. Keeping it bluecollar.

Personally, from what I've read, I'm confident and excited to receive them; but I would like to get input from ya'll on the matter based on your own experiences. I figure you gotta start somewhere, and if for whatever reason I don't fancy them, I can always look into something different when they go bad.

I'd heard Bilsteins might be great quality but the ride is rough as hell lol. Just hearsay though

I bought brand new Bilsteins in 2016, only because I had the extra money to spend, at the tune of $300 for all four from eBay.

How do they ride? It rides like a 4x4 truck. It’s certainly a stiffer ride than the original Bilsteins I took off at 275k miles. My truck was an Oklahoma truck all it’s life and I still had a little bit of hell getting my old bolts loose with the PB Blaster.

One cautionary note... be aware of the wind when you spray the PB blaster, that bs burns your eyes. It was completely unintentional, but it’s something that you don’t forget.

I appreciate you sharing your personal experience with the product =); and it's been duly noted that eyeballs and PB blaster don't play nice together haha.

On a side note, I met a feller that works at a salvage yard; says he can hook me up with an NV4500. To be continued.....
