Picked up a bone stock 98 Silverado today. Got it washed and some trim removed, it needs a few more washes before I can buff it out.

Hopefully over this summer can complete it and make it my daily. Runs very well now, just need to fix AC....figure out what's wrong and also fix cruise control. Going to wash it again and troubleshoot cruise tomorrow. Hopefully can get it clean enough to buff.

When I got it home

Truck looks great. What's the final plan for it?
Simple 2/4 drop with likely soft is or d-window 17s and white letter tires, everyone runs 20/22s here.

Really want to do a 5.3 swap but that will be way down the road. Did get the perfect year to do it in though, it seems. Running too good to mess with for now, going to add a Borla XR1 with dual tips out the side i think.

Its all stock so will upgrade stereo, just going to run a Sundown SA if it will fit or Sundown SD if not. Then components in doors and a head unit, haven't bought one in years so going to research.

Got it all legal and in my name this morning, pulled the wiper cowl and cleaned all the grime and pine straw out. Sprayed engine bay with purple power and hot it with some nylon brushes and water.

Going to wash outside once more and buff it. Then do engine bay one more time with some smaller brushes. After that I can move to interior and steam clean the carpet. Seats are in great shape and don't need anything

Once I finish all that cleaning I can pull inner fender and sand the rust area and prime with some rust inhibitor. Going to probably pull all the inner fenders and spray them all.

Congrats on the new toy. Glad you are not messing with the drive train until it needs it . Looks like it will serve you well.

Found some rot in the door rockers on both sides, probably see what it would cost to have both replaced and primed. Looked OK until I hit it with a brush when washing, then disintegrated lol, still not as bad as my 87' was. I'm expecting the quote will be quite a bit b/c of all the parts that have to come off, but hopefully not too bad.

Could probably do them myself over a weekend per side but will see what the $$$ is first and I have never done bodywork before lol. Would expect 1000-1500 quote, and hopefully include fixing the passenger fender well lip in that price.

Going to check it out more next week when I am off work and hopefully be able to just undercoat all 4 fender wells excluding passenger lip that needs to be fixed.

Also needs cab corners.....
