So, change of plans with the paint. I was originally going to have the whole truck re painted down the road. I decided I did not want to spend that kind of money, so I decided I was going to put Monstaliner instead. I am moving back to Arizona soon, so to fit in with the desert landscape, I am going with their "desert sand" color, with black trim. I started prepping the truck today.

Got some more prep done today. I think i am going to order the monstaliner tonight. However costing me almost $700, I am going with Rustoleum, same color. As long as the prep work is good, it'll look good.

I got the tan paint and I started on it today. I still have do do more, obviously. Any over spray will be cleaned up and other smaller pieces will be removed and painted separately. I am going for a military/desert look for this rig. Down the road, I am going to get offroad front and rear bumpers.

I have a buddy that did that color on his Bug-out Suburban. An '83 6.2 diesel. He used a roller and laid it on thick. It actually turned out looking pretty cool.

Nice! If done right, it will look pretty good. There are a few minor imperfections on mine, but this one is going to be used offroad in the desert once I move back to Tucson and have the funds to have it transported down.

Well the paint is done! Giving it a few days, then I will start the clean-up of removing overspray etc. I am thinking about painting the roof rack black with the same type of paint, or finishing it with tan. What do you think?

This will make an excellent desert rig. Have you ever run through Box Canyon up by Florence? I did my first wheel stand in the rocks there in a '72 K5. That was a good time!

Since you left the door trim on, I think the rack would look better black.

I have, amazing trail. Had to do the bypass around the waterfall as my 4Runner was not lifted yet. Down in Tucson we have Reddington Pass which branches off to a few awesome trails- Chiva Falls, Chimney Rock etc

What exactly did you use for this? I am thinking about doing something similar to my k2500, once I am caught up more on maintenance.
