once again I got ****** at updates lol the exciting parts are hard to take pictures of. its alive and well! sounds nasty too. I couldn't be happier how it turned out so far. ive only drove it about a mile so far, the dipstick tube was rusted out so it doesn't have one at the moment. I put a cap off a diff fluid bottle in there to plug it. my dipstick will be in at the dealer in the morning. I will update with how it runs, seems to run very well for the little ive drove it. it does want to die when you come to a stop with this cam, the tune will need touched up sooner than later. I still need to get the ac relocation kit on and tidy up the wiring, I need a junk yard trip to get the fuse box holder so I can mount it and the pcm and get the wiring for the fuel pum relay and key on power finalized as well. updates will slow down now but still be coming! ill be posting a link to a video and some pictures soon!

A little more driving and the idle learn / fuel trims might help with how it runs. That said I would definitely get it tuned still.

just talked to my tuner today for pricing on a dyno tune, will be doing that soon, truck has to be fully warmed up to stop stalling at stops. once up to operating temp its fine. the cold start is epic, sounds soo nasty. my neighbor just asked my wife today if I was over here building a hot rod lol did my first oil change today at about 66 miles. oil looked great and there was very very little wear metal on the drain plug magnate. very happy to see that, running Pennzoil sae 5w30 right now and am going to change it out to amsoil in 3k miles. truck still running great and am very happy with how its performing. ive been easy on it so far and will be till the next oil change in 3k miles. got a few parts on order, new headlights and markers, triple piller pod, glow shift boost, trans temp and afr gauge, led head light bulbs, cab lights, led cab light bulbs. next will be a hd2 kit and some body work/finish painting the frame. I need to do a fuel level sensor at some point soon too. wanna talk about gauge float..... heres a video of the truck running its first night I got it going, carrying my 3 year old in my arm while taking the video :)

for any body wondering, I ended up at 10.56:1 compression, 61cc head, .040 compressed gasket, quench height of .040 due to my combo ending up at 0 deck clearance and a gasket bore of 4.10. didn't want to go that big but that's all they had in stock.

1,000 mile update. truck has just under 1100 miles on it and running great. changed the oil just before 70 miles after ring seating and checked level at 500 miles, had used no oil at that point, going to check tomorrow and see how we are doing on oil consumption but so far I'm more than happy, truck needs tuned pretty bad. still has issues returning to idle and is fat as hell at idle at least, based off smell. has a flat spot in the power curve at WOT as well. getting an Hpipe in it and the wide band before I get it tuned. need to get some pictures as I have installed stainless exhaust tips and new head lights etc. been fixing stuff up on the truck mostly, rear door locks work finally and hunting for a set of light gray rear speaker covers and 3rd row headliner vents as those are missing. also need to order a new rear hvac control panel as its toasted too.

Well after taking the truck on a trip, 3.5hrs one way, its still doing great. front main started to leak again so I need to get a felpro seal coming and be done ******* with it. engine tech failed and so did the duralast seal. at almost 2k miles on engine its about a 1/4 qt down with the leak. the header bolts backed, just tightened them up today, I see stage 8 locking fasteners in my future. heres a col d start vid, straight **** :)

heres a shot of the new headlights and markers and a over all of the bad side of the truck. getting my tow mirrors installed this weekend too. hauled a 9000lb dump trailer a couple weeks ago and really wish I had them. used to make fun of guys with tow mirrors, always hauled my race car to the track with no tow mirrors and never had a issue. now that I got used to them on our duramax I really cant wait to get them on!

The tow mirrors are awesome! I used to laugh at them too, then I pulled our camper through Kansas City in rush hour traffic without them. Sucky.
