Smoked the frictions in 3rd, I'm sure. Been there and done that twice in my red (V6) truck. 4L80E swap has fixed that, hopefully permanently!

Also got code p0141. O2 sensor.. wondering ... I had a maf sensor code previously which I cleared out. And researching found that the maf,o2 and tranny share same fuse ... have to check that out. Left it at friends garage

Isn't the 3-4 clutch pack up front right behind the pump? If so you could really halfass a rebuild and just slap new 3-4 clutches in there and send it.

Never done a transmission. Would love to try one. You tube videos seem simple enough. But alas time is not on my side

4L60E is pretty simply to rebuild. We have done several with just a Banner kit and all but one has lasted a few years. One that died was on a GTO and he sprayed a 300 with a slick...
Clutches are easy to replace.

The 3-4 clutch pack is the failure point, but you have to figure out why it failed. Most of the time 3-4 clutch pack failure is a result of a worn 3-4 piston. When the 3-4 piston starts to fail, adequate pressure cannot be applied to the 3-4 clutch pack resulting in clutch failure. This shows why its necessary to not just replace what failed but also determine the cause. That's why reputable shops always do a complete teardown.

OK so shift kit, 3-4 pack, and send it. :D

Majority of the 3-4 clutch pack failures we have seen were from constant 4-3 down shifts and 3-4 upshifts

Curious how you came to that conclusion? The way I understand it, the 3-4 pack stays engaged in both and the band comes on in 3rd to make OD happen. Unsure if that overruns something or if something must disengage to engage 4th.
