Hello All!

Been a while. Sold my 99 GMC Suburban K2500 7.4L 4x4 early this year and quickly had sellers remorse. I sold it because after plugging several leaks and putting hundreds into new brakes and rotors it started leaking coolant from the intake manifold. Just got fed up. I’ve been towing our 6000 lbs dry camper with an Expedition since and miss the heck out of my old Suburban. I recently found a gem 95 Chevy Suburban K2500 7.4 4x4 that I want to buy. The specs say 230 HP and 385 torque where as my old 99 had 290 hp and 410 torque. This 95 has a 4:10 rear end where as my 99 had a 3:73. Does anyone think I’ll have a problem pulling our camper with this 95 model?

No idea on the towing, but I don't think I'd trade my Vortec 454 for a TBI 454.

BTW, my intake manifold leaks. It has not been a huge deal for me. It leaks to the outside.

I would also step up at least one year newer for the Vortec. There are numerous benefits to the Vortec over just the HP and torque.

I have towed with both TBI and Vortec 454 extensivly. If you have ever towed with an older carburated big block truck either EFI truck will make you think you've died and gone to heaven. So yeah the TBI will work for you. Towed a 32 foot fifth wheel toyhauler thru many states with one. I agree the later Vortec is preferable as they are OBD 2 and make a bit more power.

Be that as it may, I thought my 454 Vortec was a turd stock. Still not great now, but better. Don't think I could stomach a TBI. Those 4.10s will just make the TBI do more of what it hates, revving.
