Love this thread! Years ago when I turned wrenched for a living, my preference was Matco tools because my Uncle was the local tool truck guy and I got tools at his cost. I had some dang nice tools! Now that I'm just a state worked and hobby mechanic, Harbor Freight is my favorite tool store. Crappiest tools in the world, but cheap and lifetime guarantee. For cordless power tools, I am liking the Ryobi brand. Much cheaper than Milwaukee, Dewalt, and Mikata, and for the limited amount I use them, just as good. It has been a good year for tools for me. Fathers day gift was the cordless shop vac, I'm still amazed at how much that thing will pick up. Birthday was the 1/2" impact with a 4mA battery. It does a great job on the trail when swapping the off road tires for the street tires. I already have a dozen other Ryobi tools. The thing I like the most about Ryobi is all of their cordless tools take the same battery. They even have a battery backup garage door opener that runs the One+ battery. My dad sold the house that he grew up in and bought from my grandpa, so I helped him clean out 70 years worth of clutter in the shop. I drove away with a 50 ton press, frame straightener, Kanack job site tool box, large Matco tool box-full of tools, Floor jack, 2 sets of jack stands, another cherry picker, Battery charger, 100 gal. 2 stage air compressor, 200' of 1/2" air hose, 100' of 3/4" air hose, gauge sets, pullers, at least a dozen air tools, and probably 200# of hand tools. The only thing I wanted out of that shop he wouldn't give me was his track drive snowblower! That was a great weekend for tools!
