Dumb question, what's the purpose of the fuse between the battery and the alternator?

It replaces the fuseable link that’s in the stock charging wire. Like @Jared Jackson suggested, it prevents overloading the wire should it be trying to charge a drained battery at the same time as running other high amp accessories. It also provides protection to your battery and accessories should a diode fail in your alternator.

Why do you go from frame to firewall when you already go from battery to frame? This is more like the Big 6 or something. My Big 3 jobs have always been BAT+ to alternator, BAT- to frame and frame to block. Why all the need for the other wires

t agree electricity is always gonna take the shortest path to ground/path of least resistance so ya don't need a big 6. your only as good as your worst ground....
IMO all ya need is TRUE AWG quality wire NOT cheap ebay crap wire
- ground from body to frame 4 gauge or bigger
- ground from batt to body 4 gauge or bigger
- ground from engine to frame 4 gauge or bigger
- you can do a better batt + to alt again 4 gauge or bigger
- batt to starter only needs to be 4 gauge

that being said nice kit for guys that don't want to go thru the trouble to make their own.

Thanks for the compliment, and I agree, quality materials make the best products. All of my wire, ring terminals, and shrink wrap are from Temco, made in the USA.

I also agree side posts suck but don’t want to make a product where the customer also might have to buy a new battery, but can definitely make a kit custom to each clients needs.

I have a 96 K2500 Suburban 6.5l diesel and my zip is 33325, Davie, FL. How much for a kit minus the alternator cable, I already have 1/0 and 300 amp fuse, because I have a DC power 270 amp alternator.
