1997 Gmc 2500 350 with a 5 speed. Truck keeps blowing gauge fuse. Pulled gauge cluster and still pops immediately. Tried pulling headlight switch no luck, Pulled every fuse in truck (Including under hood fuses) and same result. Is there anything else i can look into? or can someone else supply me with a wiring diagram for fuse cluster to gauge cluster?

On a side note alternator isn't charging either, replaced with a known good one and still nothing, are both issues possibly related?
Thanks
Justin.

Not sure this will help, but here’s what is on that circuit for a 98. Let me know if you need any of the more detailed diagrams.

Traced out the issue. There’s a junction box to the left hand side of your pedals with 3 connectors going in. If I remove gry connector (pink and green wires) all my issues are solved and truck runs as it should! All gauges work and alternator is charging properly.

Next question: what is that junction box for? And would you be able to provide a diagram? (If I had to guess would say ABS). And if that’s the case I will just pull the light and call it good.

Thanks for the last diagram east302 that was great.

Is it this panel? GM called it the “Convenience Center” for some reason. If that isn’t it, do you have a picture of the connector location?

That’s exactly what I am looking for thanks! My wire colours are different but that could be a year to year thing. gry connector, C7 and C8 I believe. So I will just leave unplugged.

I’d guess that “Vanity Feed” is the power to the lights on the sun visors, but if you don’t have that or the roof marker lights then it’s hard to say for sure.

But at least you know how to make it work now.

My guess is that it was a way to simplify things and a place to plug in relays. The bundle of wiring goes through the firewall and connects to the back of this panel. Interior connectors and relays then connect to it, though there really aren’t that many.

Not to hijack this thread from the OP. But what is the convience center for?

It’s an easy place for additional harnesses to be added to for various factory options. Helped with assembly. Note..not all 88-98 have the same one, heck..not even all single year same model (example 1996 trucks) have the same one. GM did some nice stuff..and some screwy stuff over the years.

Are there part numbers for these harnesses or a place to get them?

Never mind, found the part numbers
