Payday is coming and I need to replace dash lights I know they are 194/168 types. But I have seen a couple of references for these having the twist in sockets for the connections.

Can anyone confirm this is correct or not? Do I need to find it as an assembly or do the bulbs insert in the connector?

My dash glass is cracked and have a new one in hand to install so want to one shot this when I replace it.

Are you referring to your gauge cluster? On my 1988 cluster I just needed the bulbs, no twist socket. I replaced my bulbs with LED bulbs. If you want to replace the bulbs in the AC/vent control the you will need the twist socket bulbs. I went with the NEO4 LED bulb twist socket.

Hope this helps

they are twist out if you pull the cluster out and do them from behind.i just did the LED thing got them on ebay for 12 bucks and they came with new sockets they have the same deal for 88's,good thing the factory twist outs were a little melted.while you are at it why not get a needle set up unless ya like the moons.i did aqua but they have white,blue.........https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_od...313.TR11.TRC1.A0.H0.X88.TRS0&_nkw=88&_sacat=0

Blacksport, If I recall your gauge cluster and the moonie gauge cluster are different. And the OP has the gauge cluster with idiot lights instead of gauges. Both the moonie and the cluster with all of the idiot lights do not have the twist out lights from behind.

wow.....sorry i didn't know i have seen moonies with gauges i just thought they were all kinda the same.my needles had everything but a tac.
is the needle swap simple? my 84 monte carlo had lights i put a gauge cluster in and everything worked with out changing the sending units.i put a cluster in my truck with the tac and it works.yesterday i laid my hands on a needle cluster with the tac thinking someone here would want it but i can't post to classifieds yet.

as it turns out a google search on the subject brought me right back here LOL.

They make LEDs in the correct mounts that are listed for these bulbs. I was not looking for them bit did consider trying them.
You have know which bulb you are replacing as some are light out the top, others ate mostly side lit and some are 360° around the bulb glass.
