I let my 01 go last spring for $1k, ran like an absolute dream, I bought it new ran it till the frame was so rotten it was not funny. Had I known I was gonna find my 98 RCSB, I woulda kept it for the powertrain.
Big issue up here is there are little to no 2wd Trannys...finding a 2wd 4L80 is impossible....been looking for 2 years...nothing. I did find one in RI a while back but it was steep money for a questionable trans.

Have you checked http://www.car-part.com/ ? Not sure where you're at in Maine but I just plugged a postal code in for the Bangor area and found a few 2WD 80Es within a hundred miles.

I've looked on & off....never anything worth it...right now about 20 miles from me there's one for $900.00...trans with 210k miles on it? No thanks...cheaper to pay the core on a reman and have something thats "known"... also as mentioned before, I can get the WHOLE Truck for 600.00-1k with little effort.. Plan is to keep my eyes peeled for the "rare up here" 2wd 2500HD...6.0L goes into my 98 RCSB, trans goes into my 89 Camaro which I'm also LS swapping (got a LS1/6 for it for $350.00 2 years ago). So I shouldnt say theres NONE, I should say theres nothing "worth buying"

Couldn’t a 2500 Express van provide a 4.8 and RWD 4L80e? Those are pretty common around here?
