Also does the nv4500 have the same transfer case bolt pattern as the 4l80?

It should. Output shaft splines may not match up though.

Midwest transmission has rebuilt GM nv4500 for sale for 1400$, doesn’t seem like too bad of a price

I was considering this or just rebuilding the one I had, and I regret having it rebuilt locally. It would have been cheaper to buy the reman transmission from Midwest, have it shipped to me, and have it R&R’d by a local shop than I paid to have my transmission rebuilt. Not to mention the hassles and suffering of dealing with the shop that did the rebuild. Still kicking myself over this one months after it was done.

I heard to use the zf you have to use the 454 flywheel and the Duramax clutch? And that it has a special clutch engagement? And are the splines the standard 32 spline?

NV4500 swap would be considerably easier, as you could do a 100% bolt in swap. The NV4500 is shorter than the 4L80E, so you'd want to find the drivelines and crossmember from that truck as well. T-case is the same 32 spline input. There is a difference in cases between the K2500 (NP241) and K3500 (BW4401/4470/4410 variants) which use a different wiring setup due to a front driveline synchronizer.

Other than what was stated before, I will mention that you would have to use the ZF6 transfercase which would be a NP261XHD. It's a 29 splined input and a magnesium case.

Does anyone know if they make a 32 spline output shaft for the zf?
