Anyone here successful in transplanting a zf-6 trans plus transfer case from a GM-800 into a GM-400?

I'm putting a new frame under my 2000 GMC ccsb, and am mulling over the possibilities.

Thanks,

Kevin

I know youll probably have to cut a new trans tunnel for a zf6, They are quite massive. anything is possible though.

I have not, but you should be able to use the transfer case you have now behind a ZF6.

They have integrated bells, and are quite expensive really. What engien would it be behind?

Would not a body lift suffice here?
It may but it would cost less and be less of a hassle to find a nv4500 to swap in. Plus nv4500s are way easier to find and are plenty strong to handle a 350 or 454. If you already have the zf6 trans i would say try it because i dont think anyone on here has done that swap yet.

This is NOT true.

Traditionally GM used a 27 spline and 32 spline output shaft between transmissions and transfercases. If you have a TH350/700R4/4L60E (1/2ton transmission) you'll have a 27 spline case. TH400, 4L80E and manual transmissions used 32 spline. Here is where it gets interesting.

The allison and ZF6 use a unique 29 spline output shaft. So, yes, you will need a NP261XHD/NP263XHD

I have a zf in my 02. And enjoy it. Yes the zf is huge! Body lift should work. If it was me I would put in a trans that easily bolts in.

You guys sure you're not talking about the NV5600? ZF-6 came in the C4 Corvette. . .
