I currently drive a 1998 Chevrolet c1500 2 door 4.3L swb truck, so basically the smallest full size truck that exists. The fuel economy is great for its age, (at 20 mpg averaging 65-70 and a mediocre 13-16 in the city), but the truck is too small for me and my towing/people needs. I found a truck that I would love to have for sale. It looks to be a 1999 Chevrolet k2500 ccsb truck. What are y'all getting with a k2500 ccsb 5.7 Vortec for mpg? I like going nearly 400 miles on a tank, but I really want and need this truck. Someone please tell me.

13-15 on our 99 Yukon, 3.42 gears and 265/75/16 BFG AT&T. The engine has about 50k on it and it has a Gibson cat back.

I know something is wrong because I'm currently averaging 8-9MPG in the city with my average speed being ~45MPH. I have a 1996 K1500 Suburban with a 4" lift, 33x12.5x15 BFG KO2s, and 3.42 gears.

33 and 3.42 is what's wrong. I'm running 3.43 with 28" tires and getting 16 mpg at 65 in my 350 TBI c1500.

My average mostly city is around 11. Best trip was 14.6, all highway. I just did my timing chain and ignition system so I'm hoping it goes up. 350, auto, 3.73s.

My 1990 GMC 1500 with my 355 and 700R4 with unknown rear ratio gets 15 miles per gallon and my 93 S10 Blazer 4.3 4l60E 4WD with 3.42 gears gets15 mpg. I run 93 octane in everything I own including the lawnmower.

My tbi 350, 4500, and 3:73 open with 33s gets about 20 all around, but I'm really light on throttle

Maybe because yours is a burban but my truck with 3.42 and 285's (32.5") got 16 on a normal week and 18 highway.

The gear ratios that are slightly higher than recommended provide better fuel economy not worse. You're issue is it's a TBI 1st of all, your tires are also smaller than they should be
