back when I had my old '69 C10, I remember finding a lot of pictures of purpose-built 67-72s that were very unique in their construction. I guess most were sold a cab/chassis trucks, and then after delivery they were built to be cable layers, welding generators, convertible cattle haulers, etc.

Is that still a thing? Do you all know of or have any strange purpose-build 400s?

Where I used to work in the oil field had a c3500hd with a 6.5 td and granny low that had a custom winch bed with I believe 20k lb hydrolic winch and A-frame poles for picking up tanks and motors. Was a cool truck but sat around so much it would need a whole can of ether to start and would randomly shake for a minute going down the road or lock up the breaks for a second out of no where.
