I know this thread is a bit old but Id like a little more info on this snap ring update you guys speak of. My NP241 just broke yesterday. The truck had a vibration/growling problem for 2 weeks but I just couldnt find it. Then, it happened. transfer case cracked and left me stranded.
I need to replace it but I need some advice on what to look for. I found one from the same year truck (98) for cheap money but Id like to know what I need to look for when looking at them. Also, what other parts should I buy while I do this swap? Someone mentioned an output shaft seal or something on the trans? gaskets?
