I think if we make a thread for gmt400 torque specs it could be very useful for reference. Just add any that you know.

So far I have:
Front end / steering:
Upper ball joint mounts bolts (bolts inserted from the bottom) 20 ft.lbs
Upper ball joint studs 50 ft.lbs (then tighten to line up cotter pin hole)
Lower ball joint mounting bolts 50 ft.lbs
Lower ball joint studs 94 ft.lbs (then tighten to line up cotter pin hole)
Pitman arm nut to steering box 175 ft.lbs
Pitman arm to center steering link 60 ft.lbs (then tighten to line up cotter pin hole)
Idler arm bracket bolts 60 ft.lbs
Idler arm to idler arm bracket 90 ft.lbs
Idler arm to center link 50 ft.lbs
Wheel hub/ bearing assembly (3 bolts 4WD) 178 ft.lbs
Wheel bearings 2WD:
- Tighten to 12 ft-lbs
- Spin hub to set bearings and recheck tightness (Should still be 12 ft-lbs)
- Back off nut until just loose
- Using your hand tighten the nut until snug (end play: .001" - .005")
UCA cam bolts 140 ft.lbs
LCA bolts 121 ft.lbs
Axle nut 165 ft.lbs
Outer tie rod end 46 ft.lbs
Shock mounts 66 ft.lbs

Chassis / Body:
Cab/body mount or bushing bolts 44 ft.lbs + 170 degrees

Engine / accessories:
Water pump mounting bolts 30 ft.lbs

Some more specs I need are:
CV mounting bolts
Tie rod ends (inner)
Sway bar end links

Do you have the specs for 2wd? I'll add them.

- Tighten to 12 ft-lbs
- Spin hub to set bearings and recheck tightness (Should still be 12 ft-lbs)
- Back off nut until just loose
- Using your hand tighten the nut until snug

I frequently do them by feel and check with a dial indicator (End play should be .001"-.005")

I am noticing that the torque specs change depending on the manual? What the hell.

I'd be interested to see if any of the manuals actually use GM's torque list or if they came up with their own using standard torque values...
