Can someone please tell me if the metal flange on the donut goes in the pipe or the manifold? Thx

1992 C1500 5.7 liter. Stock or what i can tel stock ypipe and cat. i have to replace it due to crushing it being bagged. the manifold bolts dont look bad like they had been replaced. any idea why size the ypipe is? 2.5 or 2.25 stock? i am afraid i bought the wrong pieces and since im sitting in front of the computer i figured i would ask. Thanks guys.
