Ok gents,
Heres what I'm wondering. I know the 95's were the screwball year for the 4L60E... no other year will interchange due to the ECU and wiring, but how would I go about doing a 4L80E swap? my pumps making a bit of whining noise, not a lot, but it gets noticibly louder when the tranny gets warmer. What controls the transmission? Is it directly off the ECU? or is there a standalone controller/chip on the board that can be swapped?

The ECM controlls the 4L80E
There were a few years (early 90) that had the 454/4L80E combo
With OBDI and a stand alone controller for the trans. You could get an aftermarket stand alone or cobble a bunch of on/off switches and shift it manually.

I think you can re-pin the ECM (move wires around at the ECM) to convert from 4L60E to 4L80E. You would need both pin out schematics to determine what wires need moved.
