Please help. I have a 1992 K1500 with the NV4500 and I'm wanting to change the shifter knob. What thread size is the shifter knob? Google has not been of any help. Thank you.

They don't have threads on them, the knobs are part of the shifter and you have to customize them to be able to switch the knob.

That is only about half correct.

92-94 (early style bottleneck top cover) used a black threaded on shift knob, 95+ used a molded grey one which you are referring to.

I don't know what the thread size is, however.

He also said 92 k1500, wouldn't come with an NV4500 from the factory if i'm not mistaken, so its a possibility he's also talking about the nv3500 with the one piece as well.

NV4500 started in 92.

And before you say the NV4500 wasn't installed in K1500 trucks, it was available in them to up the GVWR, it just wasn't super common. I can't say if it was an option in 92 off the top of my head.

If he has a NV3500 or one of the other early getrag 5-speeds (i'm not super clear on their years) they would have a molded knob.

Pretty sure he's got the 5lm60.

Not sure it matters cause I'm pretty sure most of those shifters are all the same
