Okay so who's the guy that decided not to go buy the good reinforced dremel discs? You guessed it, ME!!

Anywho... I made slow slow progress but I've got the ashtray hinge mech done. The face fits, it folds and most importantly the face still fits when it folds.

Here's the breakdown in pictures and a few brief words.

The next few are initial fitment before fine tuning it. It clears in these but just.

And now the rather non dramatic reveal of the final fitment. (still have to finish out the dress up panel that I haven't started on yet btw)

Bolted up the unit to the dash, just has the bottom bolts in but it fits right.

Door still closes, the dash isn't notched yet so the face isn't in there and the top bolts aren't in it.

Tiny bit of progress. Last I can make until I order the longer ribbon cable.

Dash before.

Dash rough trimmed.

I believe at this point what used to be the back panel (that has the outputs) will be mounted on top of the ashtray assembly. The ribbon cable that connects them needs to be an inch or two longer though to accommodate the movement of the pivot.

Progress incoming. Extended ribbon cable ordered to reconnect the two halves. Styrene panel to make the piece to trim out the face has been purchased. Slow progress but still progress. Probably need to put some new speakers in at some point as well.

Today I sat down and built the trim panel. It's my first time working with styrene but I think it turned out well.

Started with this.

Sub'd for future pics. Looks like a cool idea, the aftermarket location of these trucks suck so this is cool to see.

Thanks, Hopefully it will not be long before I get it installed. I have the extended ribbon cable, just have to solder a wire back together between the two halves of the deck and install it now. I believe I will put the other half in the stock location for the amp module in the dash since I'll be removing it.
