Greetings all! I would like to be pointed in the right direction. I have searched through the forum and could not locate the answer;

Problem; I have a 97 1/2 ton single cab 2wd with a v6 and five speed. I have a 1997 Pontiac WS6 with an LT1 and automatic "Donor" car. I am working on the suspension graft now, but very soon I will be wanting to put the LT1 into my 97 P/U...

Question; In a perfect world it would be plug-n-play since they are both 97's,, , but I am pretty sure I would not get so lucky as to have the ECM and engine harness from the WS6 just "plug in" to the pickup so I am guessing I will need to bridge the gap... Can someone give me some guidance or point me to a shop or vendor that can help me with this part of my build? ECM's are my nemisis...... ;^(

Thanks in advance

uhhhhhhh..where do i start

The engine should run on the ws6 pcm. If you are using the manual you will have to de pin the trans connections from the pcm. Getting it to work with your gauges, i don't know. I haven't seen anyone whose done this swap

Usually people dont mess with engines like these anymore. Seem almost outdated compared to modern ls engines. Like with the opti-spark etc..

Don't wanna discourage you from doing this swap, it just seems like these engines are outdated and have alot of design issues.

If you want a simple swap, swap to a 5.7 vortec, add a cam, and be done with it

someone else might be able to chime in a bit
