So I haven't been around here much. Been working on getting my 01 Monte SS back into shape. Started out I just wanted to replace the front fenders. One was rotted at the bottom and the other had a little damage from an on track scuffle. Anyways, my son prepped the new fenders and while we stripped the front end to make sure the fenders lined up, he noticed the scuffs and stone chips on the nose piece. He said he would repaint it that at the same time. Then he said now would be a good time to get the 04 ground effects out of storage, fix and paint them too. So that's what we did for the last month.

I also removed the Monte Carlo SS scripts off the sides. And Found a used Tony Stewart Edition Grille for $200. They go for almost $400, so I couldn't say no. My kid got everything fixed and prepped.

Then assembly started. And since I had the car up and wheels off, The brakes were about 90% worn, so I swapped them out with new ones. Plus my tires were just about junk, so I replaced them as well. Only this time I went a little wider. 245/50R17s rather than the 225/45R17s. Hoping to finish the car this week and try them out at Watkins Glen next Sunday. Just waiting on the new headlights and tail lights to arrive.

Finally got it done in time for Watkins Glen this past Sunday. That was a lot of fun!! But I did find that in hard right turns the right front mud flap drags the ground. I think it's time for a larger sway bar. But that will have to wait till I get the windshield replaced.

Nice car! Makes me miss my '06 SS!

Thanks! I wish I could get a 06-07 SS, but I have too many rides now. 7 vehicles and a boat with no room to park all of them. Plus my son wants to get an enclosed trailer this summer. Glad my neighbors like me, LOL!
