Need good mpg? Have you considered a small diesel? 4bt cummins possibly? If you're gonna do a swap anyways.

I haven't considered. Not even slightly familiar but doubt it can be done at the cost of a gm swap

Buy a 500$ cavalier that gets 30 mpg for a daily driver. And build the truck how you want.

A 4.8 out of a NNBS with DoD and a 6L60e could maybe get you 25 if you don't drive the balls off of it. Electric fans and an Underdrive pulley would help a little too.

That's what I was thinking. Idk if pockets will be deep enough. A regular gen 3 4 8 or 5 3 can fetch a grand around me w no trans

Swap a 4.3L and call it a day. If you take into consideration all the extra money you would spend on an engine or trans swap that could easily add up to $4k-$5k depending on your engine and transmission choice.

The current price of gas in my area is $2.00. On the high side of $5000, you could buy 2500 gallons of gas. You should be able to get 20mpg with a 4.3 in a RCSB right? That's 50,000 miles of driving.

100 miles per day x 5 days a week x 52 weeks a year is roughly 26,000 miles per year.

I use this example for people who buy brand new hybrid cars to save money on gas. Do you know how much gas can be bought with $30k?
