Is there no flex plate available for gen 1 engines (originally 10.75") with the correct PCD bolt pattern for the 6l80 (11") that could just be swapped out? If that were an option the stock 6l80 converter would just bolt up.
I am using a Duramax 6L90E for my swap when I do it. 13" diameter pattern bolts right to the 4L80E flexplate.

Fra704 by pioneer or gm pt #12557587 specs as follows
  • Pitch Flywheels: 12 ; 7 bolt holes ; Torque converter mounting hole spread: 11 inches Teeth: 168 Outer Diameter: 14.13"
OEM application would be a 2005 4.3 L blazer with a 4L80E. Does anyone have an opinion one way or another with regards to this flywheel for a 6l80 utilizing a stock torque converter?
That year 4.3 and even some earlier ones used the later style 4L60Es. That Blazer would have had a 4L60E not 4L80E. The later mexican L31s in the GMT800s probably also used that, but the ones I have run across after 2003 have been 5 spd manuals, even the 2005 I have the P59 calibration for.

The stock diesel converter in the 6L90E I have has a 6 bolt on an 11.5" circle, same as an 4L80/85E and an Allison 1000. Converter lug to bellhousing face spacing is also the same on the Diesel 6L90E as the spare 4L80E I have.

Hopefully I have found the final piece of the puzzle. Jim at Zero gravity maintains that pin 16 on the trans is speed output. The block diagram from Powertrain Control Solutions shows output 41 as speed output. A number of people over on Performance Trucks have tried both. Neither have worked to keep the ABS, cruise and speedometer ALL working. So I've found a differential mounted reluctor that uses the same vss that the 4 x 4 transfer case uses. Here's a pic of the reluctor ring mounted on the differential. So things should be happening soon!

You couldn't just get a signal converter box dealies to translate the 6L's signal into something the speedo/cruise/radio/etc could use?

The diff mounted reluctor is actually the simplest solution. I'm just moving the the vss back a few feet . Couple guys tried a dakota digital box to split the signal from the 6L without sucess. This way keeps the 411 ecm happy and it distributes the signal to the speedo, abs and cruise. Just like factory
