i really wish these fans were dependable........ they do free up horse power and run really quiet... but they burn out and seize up and leave you stranded.... mechanical is the way to go for dependability

Ok so today I put the 195 thermostat back in. It seems to have made the difference I was looking for now the temps get up to the 200-210 range and hover in that area like it's supposed to. We'll see how well it stays working out. I am however going to look for a key on positive to hook in line somewhere so when I shut down the engine the fans go off too.

Are you running the BMW 195*/210* sensor?? not sure to put a 180* t stat in or keep my 195* in because i thought we were supposed to run the t stat lower then when the fan low kicks on??

Yes I’m running the BMW sensor. I had the 180 thermostat and the engine never git warm enough to hit the optimal operating temp. So I swapped back to the 195. Now it gets plenty warm enough. I see get to just below 210 and then goes down and stays right around the 200 area like it should.

Okay 2 questions, read thru 16 pages and might have missed it but

1. What year mark VIII?
2. Any way to wire this to a tbi pcm for control?

Guess I never posted mine. I now have some small convoluted tubing so I really should finish covering the wiring. It's controlled by the 411 PCM based on temp and AC. Not pictured is the 50A breaker and single 50A Hella relay that now runs it.

Hi all
I have a 1993 1500 suburban 4x4 all mostly stock tbi still in.
I checked rockauto the upper rad hose is 32 mm or 1.5 I.D.
I have the 41in radiator. GATES 21191 I.D. 32 MM IM still not sure will do more research according to reviews the list size for part is 32 mm but many say that the outer lip is what seller list size for then goes down to ID for the accrual size. will repost some pics I found.

THIS IS THE 10.00 one that has 237 reviews but should be fine for our trucks
just have to drill tap for bmw sensor and get a good set of sst hose clamps.
I am doing this swap finaly with volvo relay n bmw sensor 61311378073
thats 91c-99c or converted to 195.8-210.2 F which for a tbi is GM optimal operating range.
Hope this helps someone any questions ask away.
I will take pics of my set up. I already have MARK VIII installed in factory fan shroud
just never had a reliable relay system. stay tune.

this is what I found hopefully its helpful

3.0 out of 5 starsNice part for a nice price: keep in mind its quirkies

Nice part, solid aluminum and great price. Why not 5 stars? I will explain: the listed diameter is of the *edges*, but not of the pipe body. That should be listed (maybe by including a diagram with the dimension?). In my case, I ordered the part expecting the pipe to be 28mm diameter, but instead it had 25.92mm and that made it unsuitable for my application.

The edges have 27.86mm (which would be ok). I ordered the next size (30mm) and hope it should do the trick.

Also keep in mind that the hole for installing the sensor is a bit rough (as mentioned by another reviewer), but I feel it won't be a problem.

Update:
I'm downgrading it to 3 stars. I received the 30mm part and it worked for my application, *but* installing the water temperature sensor in the provided hole was quite difficult (as another reviewer mentioned, it won't fit a standard 1/8 NPT threaded sensor like the ones sold by Autometer together with their gauges).

In my case, I managed to make it fit, but it required to use WD-40 to lub, over 40Nm of torque and tedious work (screw in a little bit, remove the sensor, clean, lub and repeat).
