1st: 203,000 miles

2nd: 150 miles

3rd: 30 miles and counting (but not much)

One of the trucks I drive for work is a 2007 classic K1500 ECLB. It's on its third transmission in less than 90,000 miles. And that's with regualar maintenance as it's a fleet vehicle. They're just not a good trans if you tow or work them IMO. But don't tell that to my boss.....

We have a 2002 C2500 that just gathers dust.

Approximately 200,000 miles. It started out by losing overdrive after about 30 miles. I dropped the pan and changed the filters and fluid, about a week later I lost 2nd gear. Mine had internal "hard parts" break (sun shell?).....cost about $2000 for a full rebuild.

First one kicked the bucket at roughly 83k (valve body failure).
Next one it to about 100,000 and took a crap again because an improper rebuild they refused to warranty (Powell's Transmission Cadiz, KY).
Rebuilt again and it made it to 200k when I sold it.

My '99 Yukon had 96,000 on it when I sold it, original transmission.

My current '98 ZR2 has 56,000 miles on it.

25 years old, one flush (at roughly 120k) and 2 filter/fluid changes. Now has 225k kms and it's still going strong… I've had the truck a year and put maybe 1500kms on it, but it's getting a transmission flush again next week…

I work them hard. I doubt it was bad rebuilds, only 2 of them came from the same place, and 2 of them were direct replacements from gm. Most of the failures were hard parts. Sun shells, planetary gear sets, couple of output shafts. I hate 4l60e transmissions, 4l80e ftw.

If everything thing is right in your rig maf, tps, and cooler. The hard parts minus the shell drum (give it a beast or smart shell and forget it) you shouldn't have enough there to break and a factory 4l60e aint worth 10 cents. Gm built it to go out. You put some parts in them and know what you're doing they will hold everything below 6800rpm we have them in a truck making 550 rwhp for over a year its been beat on. If it shifts smooth and its a 700/4l60e it will not live long
