Brand new to the site. I've heard soooo many good things about this site I decided to join and get help from the experts. I currently have a 1997 Yukon SLT 4 door 4x4 that could use a little TLC. But I need to know where to look. One major problem is the module kit for the fuel gauge (part #12167652, fuel damper) is shot, so my needle swings as the gas sloshes around in the tank. I know this damper was programmed into the 1998 and up "black box" and was wondering if I should just swap the black box. The module kit is almost $200, but I don't know if I need my vehicle's VIN# to be programmed in the new black box or will it work with just a swap? I'm assuming the passkey didn't change, so it should work, in my mind anyway. Thanks a bunch guys!
