Ok guys, i have a semi-float 14 bolt thats under my c2500 pickup, it works ok but has 250K on the clock and is starting to make noise. Planned on re-gearing anyways. So debating on whether i should re gear/rebuild the factory drum brake axle or if i should find a newer disc brake axle (might get lucky and find one already with 4.10s). Biggest bang for the buck is the main factor here.

Its a good axle, depending on the noise, just replace the bearings while you're in there. If you choose to sell it, it's a popular axle for the C1500 guys to swap in since its the same width as the 10 bolt.

*unless it's an 8 lug axle found in the regular 2500's. Dime a dozen and I never managed to sell one ever in the whole time I ran my salvage yard.

I beg to differ on the same size as the 10 bolt. I did that swap and the front is 4" to narrow at the moment on my C1500 unless you put it under K1500. It hooks up to the suspension the same but with the wider brakes it makes the axles extend out more from the housing. But It is worth keeping. Its a great differential.

He's talking about the 9.5" semifloater 6 lug.

Justin was referring to the 9.5" 14 bolt 6 lug from a C2500 light duty. It's the same width as a 10 bolt. Source: experience in owning more than a few.

Try making sense and compare apples to apples. Your K2500LD is not a C2500LD. 2WD and 4WD rear axles are different widths.

C2500LD 14 bolt 9.5" (redrilled to 5 lug)

The 14 bolt out of a K2500LD would have the tires sticking out past the fender lips.

My truck is an 8600gvw truck. Its the HD. Only thing I'm really concerned about is if its worth swapping in old style full float so i can put disc brakes in the rear vs rebuilding the stock axle.
