Before I sold my Yukon, I changed the transfer case fluid. I was informed that you can only use GM autotrac II transfer case fluid in it or I am running a huge risk of destroying my transfer case. Is this true or are the dealerships B.S. me. I did inquire at autozone and advance auto about what fluid to use and the capacity and their systems show it to be a dealer item only. Just curios for future reference.

If it is a manual shift case, put ATF in it. Otherwise put Autotrac in it. You'll burn up the clutches in an auto shift case with ATF.
