I just found this site so I figured I should introduce myself.
I picked up a 97' c1500 single cab short bed 2wd 5.7 truck a few weeks ago. 150k miles, 2 owners. No rust. I've always had a thing for the single cab trucks and found this one local. It is 100% stock!! No messing with other peoples projects. Its blue with silver in the middle. There is several small issues I need to address, but its absolutely drivable now and the engine/trans seem to be in good running condition. I initially thought about mod'ing the truck, but for now I think I'm just going to bring it back to tip top shape in its original condition.
Here's what I need to address:
-rear main seal small leak
-new headlights/tail lights
-front wheel bearings
-steering linkage (sloppy steering)
-2 door dings
-cracked windshield
-Broken gas pedal spring
I'm pretty mechanically inclined and this is going to be a good way for me to better the skills I've picked up over the years. I'm in the IT field during the day, so wrenching on things is actually relaxing to me.
