First off, I'm new to this forum and have really been enjoying it. Great community here!

I'm planning on deleting the cat and adding an exhaust cut-out all in one go. The truck is a 1992 Chevy C1500 SCLB 350. I have already installed a Heartthrob cat-back deep-tone exhaust kit. It's registered in a county that doesn't do emission tests so removing that old restrictive cat won't cause any problems there (trucks over 20-years old so emissions don't matter anyway... Right?) The estimated cost for this is $204.87.

So right now I have a few parts selected for this project:

$29.97 Y-pipe diverter

$148.94 Electric exhaust cut-out

$22.99 Exhaust extension

$2.97 U-bolt clamp

I'm waiting on a paycheck before ordering the parts. If all goes well I might do a write-up on this.

Sorry if the images are small or blurry. I'd love feedback on this. If anyone knows of any better parts to use, a better way to do this, or any tips, I'd appreciate your input.

When did they start putting them post. My buddy had a 93 with them in the manifold.

It has a sensor in the driver side manifold. But that won't read if it's got a cat or not. If I had the equipment to weld, I would. I have a buddy that'll do it for me, but I want to get everything in the exhaust the way I want it before I make it permanent.

Sorry forgot to add this but BOLT ON HANGERS.

use the exhaust clamp to hold it to your pipe and find a hole(preferably on the frame) to run a bolt through the other end. Depending on how much piping you use 4 hangers should be enough. I ran big tips on my truck and they solved my broken hanger issue.

If you do weld use a MIG welder with argon gas. One without argon will work but isn't as pretty or strong. Also before you weld on anything make sure your battery is unplugged, you take a chance on frying your computer, and check for unknown gas leaks. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

The cat-backs I have use these

That's a pre cat sensor those are used for fuel control an are needed. Post cat sensors started in 96 with obd2. They only check to ensure the cat is functioning properly. They have no effect on fuel control
