Engine died while driving

My 5.7 vortec randomly died going 45 down the road while i was driving. anybody know what would cause it? no CEC and no codes. had to use my jumper pack to start it again after i pulled over

If you had to use a jumper pack to start it after it had been running a while then you likely either have a battery on the ragged edge of dead or a blown alternator diode. A new battery would probably mask the problem for a while but if it is the alternator it will return. My suggestion would be to check both.
