I so need to do this to my truck.
Looks good! What brakes are you gonna go with? I've thought about the PowerStop brake kit for my truck but I'm not entirely sure yet.

Awesome story and great project. I remember going with Dad to buy his brand new 1986 blazer, 93 c1500, 96c1500, and 2000 Silverado 1500

Thanks bud! It’s thrown me a few curveballs, but I’m enjoying it for the most part.

This is a weird question, but did you buy the $9 washers from LMC for the control arm bolts? Is there anything special about them or could I just get grade 8 washers from Fastenal?

Believe it or not, I did. Not my proudest moment when I realized I could probably find them anywhere for a lot cheaper. They look to be nylon, but I think any washer should work.

I ordered a pair of AC Delco rotors and pads along with new front brake hoses. Still have to order new hardware and calipers too. Nothing fancy, but a lot better than what was on it.

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to clean up the brake dust shields and heard some good things about this stuff. Can’t wait to see how they turn out.

All of my new brake parts came in too. Hopefully within the next few days I can get them thrown on.

Spent some time today working on the front brakes. I thought it would go relatively smooth, but nope. Passenger side went together fine, but the driver side line decided to rust out and snap on me.

Got the caliper hung only to figure out they sent me two completely different brands & colors. I’m **** as hell so they have to match. Going to replace them tomorrow when I have a new line bent.

Old lines were well beyond their life expectancy

Worked on the truck for awhile today. Got the dust shields and calipers painted with a high heat paint. Also went to the brake shop and had a new line bent for free. Can’t beat that!

I was able to get the driver side together so there really isn’t much left. I work the next couple of days and have the weekend off so we’ll see what I can get done.

New brake line fits like a glove

Also got the small clips that hold the ABS sensor wire painted

Dust shields are finally on. Those were the biggest pain in the ass besides the LCA’s.

Well got some work done today on the truck. We were able to get the calipers bolted up to the knuckles. I have a small leak from the new brake line where it connects to the new hose so I have to have that taken care of.

Ordered my new Magnaflow downpipe with catalytic converters on Friday. Have to pick up an OEM muffler and new O2 sensors this week and it will be one less thing to worry about. New tires next week and should be good to go for awhile. The camber and toe need to be adjusted bad, but it looks decent.
