I don't really have a tuner or anything to tune with, any suggestions?
OMG that thing sounds TURRIBLE. There is no exhaust on it at all. That's manifolds or headers only, and it is awful. It's barely running, which is quite QUITE different than loping. Loping is not a cold start and a low/barely running idle.
This is what lope sounds like...note that it's not necessary to have a muscle car or a 406 sbc, but this is what youtube gave me for a good example of a loping sbc. And a fine example it is.

yea man.....she does sound good.......wonder if there may be a potential vacuum issue in another vehicle.
lol, who needs vacuum?
My Suburban is running an L31 vortec smallblock with a 395 GM cam. Also Scorpion 1.6:1 long slot full roller rockers. Also factory press in rocker studs. Also NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE HEADS. I repeat. NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE HEADS. There are umpteen hundred spring and retainer combinations available that allow well over .500" of valve lift on stock vortec heads WITHOUT DOING ANY MACHINE WORK TO THE HEADS. Period.
Cams act bigger in smaller engines.
More compression (with all else equal) means less lope.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Well, there goes that plan.Blackbear cannot tune 1996 or 1997 vortec black boxes.
