Well, Red gets anywhere from 6 to 12 depending on my driving. Most days it's 8 to 10, I did manage 14 on the way home when I first bought it, used cruise control and kept out of the throttle; 3.73 gearing helps a lot on these big blocks,

My old Green Suburban pulled anywhere from 16 to 18 regardless of my driving, it was wore out as hell, but it kept chugging when it wanted to. 3.73s on that truck too, it was a Vortec 350, same as yours,
Ok, thanks, that really helps! :) I should probably get anywhere from 12 to 13 mpg on it. Not as bad as I thought. Thank you much! :)

My dad and I are planning to swap out my factory IFS to the 3/4 factory IFS. We will have to cut parts of the frame to make it compatible. The rear axle should be a simple swap in deal. But I don't know, maybe a 94-02 Dodge front solid axle w/ coil springs would be the better route? I want to keep the IFS though, not planning on doing any lift kits. :)

Thanks! It's been a hellacious search that's taken me damn near all over NC, it took 4 months and 13 separate trucks to finally find this one!

Sold then, I'm wanting to convert the truck to Wix filters entirely, but none of the main line parts stores I go to carry them. Got a NAPA P/N?
O'Reillys carries wix

Funny because that swap was on my mind yesterday too. It's not a bolt in FYI.

If you plan on keeping your truck for a long time buy in bulk. You'll save a lot of money that way. Also, I found WIX to be way cheaper online than at O'Reillys. http://www.fleetfilter.com/

454 gurus, lend me your thoughts,

Planning on doing 3 mods for power,
Want to put roller rockers on the motor, Comp has the kit and it's a 1.72 ratio, what all is required for this conversion? And do they still produce the kit for adjustable rocker arms?

Headers; planning on running Gibson Shorty headers, I know everyone preaches long tubes, and if I was building a tow rig I would, but as a daily I'd prefer shorties;
And last but not least, my tune; I want to delete EGR, catalytic converters, and have Black Bear program aimed for equal programming for mileage and performance. Should I have them load up an improved tune for 87 octane or go with 89? Keep in mind it's a daily, but I want to try and make it a bit quicker and improve drivability.
Any tips or suggestions on these thoughts?

Also a pic of the truck since it's been a while...
