Trying to find out the best door speaker brand for around 100$ or less.
(97 k1500)

If you have replaced the front door speakers and bought them online please post a link. Been searching for months just can't decide what's best for the price.

If you run an amp you just have to run the speaker wires to wherever you place your amp. I run http://www.bestbuy.com/site/jbl-6-1...lene-cones-pair-black/8038046.p?skuId=8038046 with this amp http://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker-...t-in-crossovers-black/4781700.p?skuId=4781700 it's not the loudest or best there is but for a budget system it's not terrible. Only thing i'd change with my choice is the amp just because I've had bad luck with the ones I've used.

That's one thing I was gonna ask, I already have a kenwood spare amp I'm gonna use. So you run your power and negative (of course) and just separate speaker wire to both sides and that's it?

Yeah pretty much, you'll have a power remote wire too that you run into the back of your headunit with the red wire, and then the rca cables to the back of the headunit also. I have my amp placed behind my back seat and removed the front seats and ran most of my wires under them the first time I installed it.

going to crutchfield.com & searching 1997 chevy k1500 ext cab w/ 3rd door (didn't know if you had one or not), netted the following.

https://www.crutchfield.com/g_400/All-Car-Speakers.html?tp=105&l=5&pg=1

they come w/ free speaker harness adapters, so no splicing.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120724568/Metra-72-4568-Speaker-Wiring-Harness.html

the 5.25 & 6.5" speakers come w/ free clip in-style mounting brackets to go into the existing holes in the doors.
https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120823002/Metra-82-3002-Speaker-Mounting-Brackets.html

if you go w/ 6.75" speakers, then you will have to drill holes in the door for the screws in-order to mount them

as far as brands, everyone has different preferences & budgets.

I haven't run an amp in about 15yrs, so I cant help you on that front.
I've always had good luck w/ Pioneers & Infinity Reference. size will partially play a role in what you get. odd sizes like 4x6 & 4x10 in some gm's or the 6x8 in fords leave you w/ a smaller list of options

hope this helps
