94 dually tow pig

Well I ran across this bad boy and am taking a look at her later this week. 454 TBI auto w/170K. I am thinking of using this to take my truck to a few shows this year, of course I'm looking for a car trailer as well.
Can anyone chime in on this big block set up as far as any issues to look for? I read once you get over 150K distributor shows wear and is hard to set the timing accurately.

The biggest problem I see with TBI454s is they are flat tappet cams, they wear down quicker. We had a ton of them at my work over the years, sitting at idle flattened the cams out pretty regularly.

Thanks, I also read on a dually forum that a new hydraulic cam wakes these 454tbi motors up as far as getting more hp out of them.

nice. im building a 91 single cab dually right now. it had 296 on it when i took at apart and until then was a good towing rig.

Looks good! What are your plans for it?

Rebuilding the steering and brake system. GMC grill update and eventually lower it static and add helper bags for towing.

Had a hell of a time finding the brake dust shields but RPS had them.
