94 c1500 computer tuning questions

Howdy guys and gals. I have qu stions about my options to get the more juices out of my PCM. I have a cam in my engine newly built transmission and exaust ( removed cat have free flow muffler) i will install headers soon. What options i have as far as tuning? Is it expensive? Should i get a programmer instead?

Truck info: 1994 c1500 5.7l TBI built transmission, mild cam, TBI mods

I'm pretty sure that 94 is still OBDI, so learn to burn chips, or swap to a dynamic EFI ECM so you don't have to burn chips anymore.

I have not personally used the his services, but TBI Chips will burn chips for you: http://tbichips.com/

If you the Moates website:http://www.moates.net/gm-19851995-c-64.html , you will find all the necessities to burn your own chips and datalog and such.

If you are going to do your own tuning and burning head over to Gearhead EFI and create an account there: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/ , the site is full of tuning information and folks who are very knowledgable with tuning.

Pricing depends on what you want to do!

Thanks for the awesome info! I think i will go with moates and burn my own chip and it also seems the cheapest way all i need is just the ability to make my mods work in harmony and may be squeeze couple more HP's out

I am burning my own chips for my 1990 K2500 with a 383. I found 90% of the info needed to set everything up and created/tune chips from Gearhead EFI.

First thing you need to do is figure out the part number of your ECM and the BCC on the stock chip, so track down your ECM and read that info from the sticker on the case. Then, look here for a lot of info on that specific ECM and program - http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-In...o-Definition-Files-Wiring-Diagrams-Tuner-Info!

They also sell the most reasonably priced ALDL cables - http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?1578-Support-The-Forum-Buy-ALDL-Cables!

I installed a ZIF socket in place of my stock chip in the ECM to be able to convert to rewriteable 27SF512 PROM chips - http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?172-7747-Flash-Chip-Conversion-(27SF512)

Download and install TunerPro RT and pick up a Moates Burn II to be able to modify programs and burn chips. Then the real fun begins!!!

depending on your budget dynamic efi has ebl flash which is the best of the best ofr tbi better than the 7727. gearhead efei will be your new home, as far as moates you really need the g1 adapter and aldl cable (get on gearhea to support the site for cheaper) and the bruning software and some chips and a laptop.

the chip fro moates used your memcal and stock chip with whatever chip you retune, sorta overrides it in a sense, the ALDL cable connects your truck to a laptop. if you are burning chips youll need the chip burner, chips, a laptop regardless and tunerpro rt as well as the mask and bin files for your truck. all of which can be foind in one of eagle marks extensive directories on there. while your getting into tuning you might want to look into the 0$ e fan mask and hiway lean mode. heated 02 is a nice mod, bumped pressure and wideband 02 would also be considerably useful
