4x4 wont lock in :/

but when you place the t-case in 4-lo the left front axle will still spin and the driveshaft will still be giving power to the front diff through the pinion, so won't it technically still be in 4wd but just act like the right tire was stuck and cause excessive wear on the spider gears?
