yeah that hum is from excessive backlash usually caused by the front diff bearing adjuster lock tabs loosening and letting the adjuster back out, or front the carrier bearings themselves wearing and making noise, if the front diff is loose from too much play, backlash or whatever that could cause a delayed engagement or disengagement, rebuild the front diff and it should fix any issues you have with it
