4l80e not shifting properly

How much did you initially add after the filter? I know a 60 takes 7 quarts, can't imagine an 80 being any less.

8 but it was about 2 quarts low once I checked it Tonite I know it was more than just the pan because a bunch came out when split from tcase and when I tilted down to unbolt from tcase

it isnt any better and it shifts kind of hard i think i need to get a tank of fuel thru it to give things time to free up from sitting if it gets better i will get let you all know.

I bought a valve body for the 98 4l80e that was originally in the truck a before i put the 96 in would the valve bodys be the same? if so would it be worth installing the valve body?

It is probably the 1-2 and 3-4 shift solenoids. Mine had the exact same problem. I changed those 2 solenoids and it runs as it should.
However, in order to change those solenoids I had to remove the valve body - because of the way the retaining clip was installed....
Pretty sure the 98 and 96 valve bodies are not the same....

pretty sure your right that they are not the same i found 96 down 97 up on most sites what year was yours?

well after getting a chance to really drive it today. is downshifting from 3-2 under hard load and not wanting to shift back up and not going into 4 until almost 70mph. and now here is the real bad it lost reverse while plowing my driveway. it will go in after 15-20 seconds so do you think its a lose and need to send the truck to a reputable shop or is there stuff i should check

well truck was dropped off at a reputable shop getting transmission rebuilt done fight with it. Mike smith transmission danielson ct
