4l60e wont shift out of 2nd.

98 Chevy ext. cab 2wd 4l60e, 5.7, my nephew ran the crap out of it, was told it would not shift out of 1st. then it would not run over 30 mph, so we checked the wiring harness looked ok, changed shift switches, filter and fluid, it will shift from 1st. to 2nd. auto and manually, when it should go to 3rd. it sounds like it is stalling out or slipping badly and starts loosing speed until you manually shift back to 2nd. also in 2nd. it will run up to 45 or 50 mph. so does it mean the tranny is bad or should I check the harness better.

definatly toasted the 3-4 clutch pack.

So for my next question I found a 97 s10 4.3 4l60e it is the same as the one in the 98 full size isn't it, the pictures it looks the same.

so now my tranny is bad what all years has a 4l60e in it that I can put in my 98 half ton 5.7 350.
