I don't know if it was locked up or not.Is the converter staying locked up said grade? If not, a tune would help out a lot. If so, then bigger cooler is absolutely the answer.
It has the factory tune.

Good idea, I found a how to here that i'll try:Do you have Torque and an OBD dongle? You should be able to set up a dashboard with torque converter slip so you can see if its locked, or if its slipping when locked.
