good info guys. thanks. i was looking on ebay and the transfer case chains that were listed said it fit all of those. maybe they have chains that fit them all and arent very specific in their wording. maybe they were just generalizing. thanks again guys

ok i have looked thoroughly at my 82 gm th400/205 and the ford divorced 205 i have. i can take the ford unit apart and put the input shaft in it from the turbo 400/205. then redrill the bolt pattern on the face of the ford 205 to accept the th400 adapter, then it will bolt up to the 4l80e and have the correct side drop.

i think the case needs machining for bearing size difference too

i believe you are correct as the 400/205 input shaft appears it is a larger diameter.

yes i had to machine the case for the th400 swap on my old mud truck.

i have a '98 2wd 4l80e i could put the ford divorced unit behind but im hoping i wont have to do much if any to the driveshafts if i stay with the married 205 to '95 4wd 4l80e. we will just have to see when i get to that point.
