I recently picked up a 1995 K1500. Relatively stock with the exception of a catback exhaust and some decent rubber. The truck has a 5.7L in it, pushing 100k miles.
Here is where I need some help. This will be my first Chevy build. I've done multiple Ford high-boy carbureted builds, but this will be my first EFI build.
I want to start building a motor before anything else. Do I dare keep this block and build it, or should I be looking at Vortec engines as a starter?
Is the 5.7 "buildable" enough to push 450 - 500 hp?
