I wonder how an early grill would look with billet inserts.

They have them, I don't even mind it in stock form. Obviously I'd have to replace this one as it's flaking. Just kind of threw it on there the other night, and it's growing on me. Especially being a 1993 truck anyways. it's like 88GMC truck running his 88-93 style GMC grille on his 88, just keeping it what it is.

    It's a grille most people don't like and it's a little different.

The details will be the things that stand out the most to you so make you're ok with them and don't settle. I constantly have to tell my self, when I do swaps ppb things or buy new products, am I settling or is this what I want.

Long as you say it's what I want and you're not saying this Will do donkey, you're good.

    Lol I like it.

I choose to do it will just be one of those small pieces that basically keeps it close to factory since it is in fact a 1993. Just one of those things that keeps some of what it was. Even though I like the 94+ grilles better, something about using this 93 grille intrigues me..

I think you could go either way TBH, both would look quite nice.

That's kinda my thought, ether one looks good.

I've got time to decide, hoping around tax return time i'll be able to devote some more cash towards this thing. Had some other things come up recently.

We're getting there..... all of the engine parts aside from head studs have been ordered.

I think the '93 grille gives it more of that "stock, but not stock" look. My vote would be for the newer grille wouthout the inserts

    I agree.

Don't get me wrong, i like the 94+ Chevy/GMC grilles, but on a truck thats already a 1993... i like the idea of keeping it looking like one.

The only thing i'd do, space out the lower parking lamps so they're flush with the headlights. One of the things i don't like about the 88-93 grilles.

I've posted this before, but the truck about 10-15 years ago... long before i was driving.

    Oh Josh.... Josh Josh Josh....

Your parking lights are missing parts.

88-89 headlights sat farther back in the grille, and so did the parking lights. When they added the composite lights they sit farther out in the grille, so GM installed a set of spacers that replace the white nuts inserts and space the lights out. They are PN 15622475.

When they re-designed the grilles in 94, since the composite headlights were the main headlight used they did away with the spacers and set the lights forward.

Wow... My Dad has owned this truck for 20+ years... and I've never seen those before.... I'm assuming after the first time he hit a deer and shattered the grille, they never found there way back on. Thank You!

Everything else I've owned personally has been 94 or newer so I've never seen them.

I guess it's also worth noting these parking lots were originally from my 97 and aren't OEM parts so that's another reason I never saw or heard of them.
