oh yea for some reason i read that wrong. I remember this being a ***** on mine as well like you said its just not quite enough room to get both clips in. Keep working at it, with enough coercing you'll get it. I think I shaved a few thousands of an inch off my clips.

i would not grind clips, if external clips i would grind the shaft a hair to fit the clips in

if you have the steel shaft then its most likely a 1330 joint you have and not the oddball 1344 joint size the aluminum one uses, you need a conversion joint that goes 1330/1350

http://www.summitracing.com/search/...s/Universal-Joint-Style/1330-1350-conversion/

if you give me a cap size and width on your driveshaft or original joint i can tell you for sure, i don't think they ever used a 1310 so it should be the 1330/1350 conversion

get some calipers and measure so you know for sure. I went through the same bs man. Ended up I didnt even need a conversion my stock size fit.

i got a hold of him, he got the 448 joint now which is a 1330/1350 joint and its all together, the steel shafts are a 1330 joint where the aluminum is 1344 joint

i don't see how its possible yours fit dcz71as a truck 10 bolt never had a 1350 yoke, only 1330 or 1344 series yoke, car 10 bolt had a 1350 in some of the late 60's early 70's

Good glad he got it straight.

Ken, I'm guessing the previous owner of the axle could have swapped on a 10 bolt yoke.

a 10 bolt has a smaller pinion shank and spline count, it does not fit on the 9.5, you can however use the 10 bolt yoke on a 12 bolt with a seal change for whoever would want to swap in a 8.75 rear
