    Diagnose engine ticking sound

5.7 98 k1500. Truck doesn't burn any oil, but I hear ticking near the valve covers. It's currently running a 10w40 high mileage oil, but I heard it when it was on 5w30 also. Thoughts on what it is? Here's a video with what it sounds like

    1997 c1500 ccsb

http://www.craigslistadsaver.com/view.php?name=CraigslistAdSaver1025 I don't usually see crew cabs on the half tons. Thought the sunroof was pretty cool, but not a fan of the fake wood trim.

    A/C Schrader valve

Check your high side too while you're at it. I replaced my low side AC shrader valve, and realized the high side was leaking also. The high side is not a shrader valve and the oe part number is 3394-05401448.

R134A can tap doesn't fit to AC manifold yellow line

Ya, I bought a $11 adapter from NAPA. I bought it in store so I can check it out in person. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTE783199 The key part is to get a "1/2" ACME Female x 1/4" Male Flare". They sell these for cheaper on eBay, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of shipping and...

400hp/400tq goal in CA. Swap or modifications?

400/400 isn't a hard target. The way I drive, I'd prefer more low end torque at the expense of peak power anyways. Agreed the 6.2 is appealing, but then I'm asking myself if I want to find a rcsb rwd + manual for a sport truck, or a ccsb if I'm going to put the work into it.

400hp/400tq goal in CA. Swap or modifications?

Found a L99/6L80e swap into a 95 C1500 at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=725451 Imagine this will take more work to line up the t-case and front axle. Definitely intimidated by the swap.

400hp/400tq goal in CA. Swap or modifications?

Have a 1998 K1500 5.7 with a 4l60e. Fine with the truck, but like using it to learn new things on. Never done anything that adds power, so started researching either modifying the current engine, or swapping in something newer. Had some open questions, but just want to hear from folks who have...

Warm air coming out the vents when set on cool!

If it does turn out to be the blend door, I think it's behind the dash and a real pita to get to. Someone correct me if I have the wrong actuator though. I think it's 65 in this image. 69 is the mode door which controls air going to the defrost/floor/front. Here's a thread about pulling the...

I tried having the high beams on and off, but noticed the side headlights weren't coming on: Seems unlikely both bulbs would be out, but I'm not sure?

    New alternator not charging

Yep, bonus idiot points for me today. Gauges were unplugged, so it wasn't charging. Worked great after. Old alternator was probably fine, but at least the one I got was cheap-ish at $60. Thanks for the help!

    New alternator not charging

I bought and installed a new alternator, but when I tested it running, I noticed it wasn't charging at all. Here's what I've gone through: Battery is good and charged. 12.6V when the truck off Alternator doesn't seem to be charging. 12.3V when truck on and idling. Lower if accessories on. Belt...

Turn signal and other stalk functions not working after pulling dash

The flasher itself seems to work fine because I can hear it and see the lights blink, but I'm guessing the two other sides should become hot when the turn signals are engaged.

Turn signal and other stalk functions not working after pulling dash

I plugged the big block of ignition wiring harness back in, but noticed that the turn signals, wipers, and high beams are not working. The hazards switch is working however. I checked fuse 16 (TURN B/U) and that reads 12v. Am I missing another plug or ground? Other ideas for what's wrong?
